Best diversion of the month? The millions of Time-Life photos hosted at Google. Three million up so far and another seven million making their way to the web. Fantastic stuff.
If you’re looking for a way to kill some time, start digging through the stacks. Just do a standard Google image search with a “source:life” suffix.
I considered adding a photo taken a week after my birth of Sally Kellerman (she was up for an Oscar for M*A*S*H* at the time) jumping around on a beach in a bikini. Something about my arrival inspired another starlet to bare all. The Mod Squad’s Peggy Lipton posed for a nudie shot by Charles Moore on the date of my birth.
Then I saw this shot of a kid doing a school presentation on the stock market 50 years ago (November 1958). Considering what we’re witnessing a half-century later, it seemed like a better illustrative choice.
Don’t start grabbing these snapshots for commercial use. Personal and research use are okay, but if you have commercial intent, you’ll need to pony up. Search Engine Land breaks down the restrictions, if you’re interested. If anyone starts yelling at me for Mr. Stock Market, I’m claiming coverage under the research exemption.

This is huge, I wonder how many servers have been used to store all this pics.
Work At Home´s last blog post..Entrebar Beta 0.9.1 Version Is 100% Better Than 0.9
Amazing how much information there is in the world. Google’s ability to mine new sources of it is quite awe inspiring.
I am still gobsmacked by Google Earth. Then they came up with their street view resource. And now this.
Wonder what they’ll come up with next?
