Don’t worry. This is less about politics than it is about music.

My favorite moment from Obama’s acceptance speech the other night was a nod to the work of one of my all-time favorite singers, Sam Cooke.

President-Elect Obama said:

“It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.”

It’s interesting. I’ve heard every analyst around dissect that speech, but I haven’t heard a single person mention “A Change is Gonna Come”.

Anyway, Mr. Obama is a fine orator but when it comes to “it’s been a long time coming”, Sam Cooke will always rule.
